This is a live performance by the shakuhachi and piano unit "Umigame", composed of shakuhachi player: Jun Watanabe and composer/pianist: Kenji Kanemasu.
In 2009, they started their duo activities through live activities, commissioned concerts, and event performances.
From Japanese and foreign folk songs, tango and Latin, to individual originals and individual solos, this duo's sound is free and solo, like a sea turtle swimming leisurely in the sea, or a bird flying majestically in the sky. We will deliver a space that feels like traveling around the world.
By the way, the first piece I performed was Astor Piazzolla's "Escuaro" at the Tokyo National Museum Heiseikan. (March 2009)
